Project Funway by Fresh Start (www.FreshStartHome.org) will showcase the work of local designers and students from the Department of Textiles, Merchandising and Fashion Design in the College of Education and Human Services at UNL for a “Project Runway” style design contest on Friday, November 4. The event will take place at The Cornhusker Marriott Hotel and will raise money and support for Fresh Start.
For Project Funway, designers create fashionable clothing that will be modeled on a runway walk. They take thrift store and cast-off clothing and transform the materials into one-of-a-kind, glamorous outfits. A panel of judges will vote for three awards: most innovative, best use of materials, and best of show. Guests will also be able to vote on their favorite designs.
The event will include silent and live auctions for donated items, including a week-long stay at a Winter Park ski condo, a private airplane ride to/ from Kansas City, one free Runza combo meal a week for a year, 2023 Lincoln Stars Hockey tickets, and a one night stay at Kimberly Creek Retreat. Tickets can be purchased online at freshstarthome.org/funway.
Hampton Enterprises and Union Bank & Trust are major event sponsors.
