W.W. Grainger, Inc., a broad line supplier of maintenance, repair and operating products, is making scholarships available for two full-time students currently enrolled at Southeast Community College.
The Grainger Tools for Tomorrow© scholarship is worth $2,000 each to two SCC students who are in their final year of study and in good standing to graduate from a technical program in 2012.
Grainger established the scholarship with SCC in 2009. To be eligible, a student must be a U.S. citizen, going to school full-time, in their second year, and enrolled in a technical education program, which is defined by Grainger as “a program of study leading to an associate’s degree or licensed certification in electronic systems, heating/air conditioning, plumbing, pneumatics, welding, automotive, construction, facilities maintenance or other industrial trade.”
Along with the $2,000 award, recipients also will receive Westward© toolkits. Only one scholarship and one toolkit will be granted per winner.
Grainger, based in Lake Forest, Ill., operates more than 600 branches, 18 distribution centers and multiple Web sites. The company’s commitment to the communities it serves includes philanthropic support in the areas of disaster relief and technical education.
