Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® in Lincoln Raises $160,000
More than 2,000 residents from the Lincoln area joined the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s® (alz.org/walk) and united in a movement to reclaim the future for millions at Holmes Lake Park. Participants raised more than $160,000 so far to fund Alzheimer’s care, support and research programs. The total is expected to hit $200,000 by the end of the year as funds continue to come in.
The Alzheimer’s Association thanks our generous sponsors for making this year’s Walk a success. A special thanks to Edward Jones, our National Presenting Sponsor, and CountryHouse Residences, our Platinum Sponsor.
The 120+ Walk to End Alzheimer’s teams did more than complete the 2-mile walk. They learned about Alzheimer’s disease and how to get involved with this critical cause, from advocacy opportunities, clinical studies and support programs and services. The event also included an emotional tribute to those who have experienced or are experiencing Alzheimer’s.
Alzheimer’s disease is a growing epidemic and the nation’s sixth-leading cause of death. As baby boomers age, the number of individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease will rapidly escalate, increasing well beyond today’s more than 5 million Americans to as many as 16 million by 2050. In Nebraska alone, there are 33,000 people living with Alzheimer’s.
