The Ambassador Health System’s Lincoln and Omaha facilities have been named a Passy-Muir® Center of Excellence. Through the national Centers of Excellence Program, Passy-Muir®, Inc. recognizes health care facilities that have developed a multidisciplinary team approach to the treatment of tracheostomized and ventilator dependent patients by utilization of Passy-Muir® Valves.  Rigorous criteria must be met, and there are only two organizations in the Midwest that have qualified.

Utilizing the latest respiratory equipment and cutting edge treatments, The Ambassador Health System is one of a few health care providers in the Midwest that specializes in respiratory care for patients that have various breathing ailments, including patients needing tracheostomy and ventilator support.  Invented by a patient named David Muir, the Passy-Muir® Tracheostomy & Ventilator Swallowing and Speaking Valve is a medical device that redirects airflow for improved communication and a reduction in recovery time. Under the leadership of a board-certified pulmonary physician, The Ambassador’s experienced nursing and respiratory therapy team provides 24-hour care to meet the highly individualized needs of its patients.

As a recognized Passy-Muir® Center of Excellence, The Ambassador Health System’s standard of care, including protocols, procedures, and research are published on the Passy-Muir® website and made available to clinicians, patients, and families for reference.
