Marcia Carlson Joins Cheney Psychiatric Associates, LLC

Cheney Psychiatric Associates, LLC (www.cheneypsych.com) has added Marcia Carlson to its team of professionals.

Marcia Carlson is a board certified family psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Clarkson College and her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. While in graduate school, Carlson was a clinical instructor for undergraduate students at the University of Nebraska Medical Center for their psychiatric rotation.

Carlson has over 20 years of experience as a psychiatric nurse; 16+ years have been working with children and adolescents. She enjoys working with patients of all ages with a special interest in youth. Carlson has experience working with youth who are dealing with situational stressors as well as those with severe mental illness and developmental disabilities. She has served as the charge nurse for many years on a busy youth mental health unit, where she worked very closely with patients, families, physicians, and other members of the treatment team. Carlson believes patients should be treated in a holistic manner utilizing a biopsychosocial approach to assessment and treatment.

Cheney Psychiatric has a team of psychiatrist, psychologist, social workers, mental health therapists and psychiatric nurse practitioners available to see patients for ongoing treatment and urgent next day appointments for medication management and psychotherapy.
