Parkinson’s Nebraska Provides New Online Caregiver Resources and Tutorials

With an eye toward providing much-needed support to caregivers in the age of social distancing, Parkinson’s Nebraska (parkinsonsnebraska.org) compiled a selection of new virtual resources on its website, including a monthly support group hosted by the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). The free caregiver support group will meet on the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m. Other additions include a variety of discussion boards and support groups from national and local partners, all toward creating one easy-to- find place for caregivers to find programs that keep caregivers engaged with the community throughout quarantine.

In addition, Parkinson’s Nebraska also has uploaded a selection of Zoom tutorials regarding exercise and therapy for those living with Parkinson’s disease (PD). The new sections of the website are just one part of the nonprofit organization’s mission to make Parkinson’s resources accessible to people with PD and their families across Nebraska. The cancellation of in-person events should not limit those with PD and close their access to services they need to manage the disease and maintain functional mobility.
