The Big Red Challenge CampusathalonTM, an obstacle race presented by Men’s HealthTM, is set for April 26 in Haymarket Park. It will be the first college/university version of the Men’s HealthTM UrbanathalonTM (International Urban Obstacle Race Series).  The primary goal of the The Big Red Challenge CampusathalonTM is to fund a fellowship program to assist wounded veterans and the children of fallen service members in their quest for college education. Competitors have the option to run either a 5K or a competitive 10K while tackling different obstacles along the way.  The competitive division will include cash prizes of $1,000 for first place, $750 for second and $500 for third in each of the male competitive and female competitive divisions. Within the non-competitive division, there will be competition between branches of service, sororities, fraternities, colleges, corporations, first-responders, police against fire departments, firehouse against firehouse, perhaps even city against city. Participation in this event is free for all veterans.

After the CampusathalonTM, a post-race celebration will include local food and drink vendors, booths featuring the sponsors, and a live band(s). This will allow contestants, spectators and all members of the community to celebrate the race and further contribute to the cause via a donation booth.
