SCIP Announces Upcoming Courses

School Community Intervention & Prevention (SCIP; www.scipnebraska.com) will begin offering 3-4 continuing education classes per year, which are specifically designed for mental health professionals and/or alcohol and drug counselors. The first, “Emerging Drug Trends Workshop,” will be held July 23 from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Jeremy Schwartz, drug recognition expert, will discuss the ever-changing drugs of abuse and prevailing trends as well as criminogenic needs. The second, “Youth and Trauma: Key Concepts in Understanding and Working with Traumatized Youth,” is scheduled for August 10 from 12:45-4:15 p.m. This course, taught by Mandy Hansen, LMHP, LPC, will help professionals who serve adolescents understand the prevalence of childhood trauma and its developmental impact.
