Dr. Todd Peterson of Synergy Chiropractic recently received certification in the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy on March 19th. Dr. Peterson is now the ONLY chiropractor in the state of Nebraska and the only Lincoln based health professional in ANY FIELD to carry an active certification in the McKenzie Method® of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT). MDT is a reliable process of assessment and treatment intended for patients suffering from any sort of musculoskeletal pain, and is especially helpful for patients suffering from back pain, sciatica, neck pain, radiculopathy, and/or intermittent numbness or tingling. Its principles can also be applied to tricky cases of lingering pain in the knees, shoulders, sacroiliac joints, wrists, and ankles. Together with a certified provider, the aim of treatment is to select a very specific exercise or movement for a patient to perform in an effort to regain range of motion, centralize (decrease sciatica or radiculopathy), reduce, and eventually abolish pain. Treatment aims to teach patients how to perform these exercises at home, which allows for fewer visits and reduced cost of care.
