The American Cancer Society Makes Huge Impact in 2018

The American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) is thankful for the support of individuals and businesses across our community. If it weren’t for their generosity, the American Cancer Society would not have been able to make such a big impact in Lincoln and Nebraska as a whole this past year.

To share a small summary of this impact, the American Cancer Society has provided cancer patients and their families with the following since the beginning of 2018:

The American Cancer Society has assisted 850 Lancaster County cancer patients. These patients received information and support through patient programs and other free services.

With over 40 volunteer drivers, the American Cancer Society has provided Lancaster County residents with over 1100 rides to and from their cancer treatments.

Hotel Partners Program members in Lincoln have supported cancer patients by providing more than 130 room nights of complimentary lodging for those traveling for treatment.

Across the USA, the National Cancer Information Center (NCIC) has received over 1.3 million contacts over the phone (1-800-227-2345) and online.

With offices in Lincoln, Omaha, and Kearney, the American Cancer Society supports every community in Nebraska. While most people know about their research, the American Cancer Society also provides free lodging near treatment, a 24/7/365 live helpline, free rides to treatment, and advocacy groups to create awareness and impact.
