Teach a Kid to Fish recently received grant funds to continue their community outreach training program, The Little Voices for Healthy Choices.  This program uses a research-tested intervention, which is called Nutrition and Physical Activity Self-Assessment for Child Care (NAP SACC) to encourage better policies and practices for the prevention of obesity in preschool children. The intervention involves child care centers completing a self-assessment, setting nutrition and physical activity goals, and participating in educational trainings.  The child care centers are provided with technical support from local health professionals throughout the program.  To date, approximately twenty Lincoln child care centers have completed the NAP SACC training program, with more participating in upcoming spring training sessions.

Teach a Kid to Fish is a non-profit organization in Lincoln that works to prevent and reduce childhood obesity by empowering children and families to eat healthy and be active.  They provide resources for a variety of settings, including schools, families, healthcare and child care centers, and the community in general.
