Women’s Clinic of Lincoln, PC is honored to receive a recognition award from Hologic, a women’s health company, for their dedication to breast health. The Comprehensive Breast Care Center staff, a department within Women’s Clinic, have been performing the ATEC procedure, supported by Hologic, for 10 years. The ATEC (automated tissue excision and collection ) procedure uses ultrasound imaging to guide the surgeon during the procedure. It is a safe, quick, and comfortable way to precisely remove or sample breast lesions seen by ultrasound. This is completed using a vacuum assisted core needle. The ATEC procedure only requires local anesthesia and is completed in the comfort of the office setting.
The Comprehensive Breast Care Center was established to ensure a positive experience for patients receiving breast care. At Women’s Clinic we perform clinical breast exams, digital mammography, breast ultrasound and ATEC procedures. Their goal is to increase the number of women who follow recommendations for routine screenings and actively follow-up on abnormal results so they can reduce the number of breast cancer cases.
