The Lincoln Airport Authority (lincolnairport.com) Board of Directors approved an agreement during their August board meeting for Lincoln Airport to become an official partner of Husker Athletics. Lincoln Airport has been working hard to align with the community, from offering aviation tours to youth, starting the free LNK Outdoor Movies Series, and now partnering with Husker Athletics.
The decision to align with a strong brand like The University of Nebraska and the Huskers makes a big impact. The goal is to target college students as well as Husker fans across the state. United Airlines has already announced plans to add in special flights to and from Lincoln for key football games. The Lincoln Airport is planning to be a sponsor of Husker Football, Volleyball, Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Baseball, and Softball which will help spread awareness across the athletic spectrum of sports and the different seasons.
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln was crucial in helping to land LNK’s newest route Houston as they financially gave $250,000 as part of the community match for that route. LNK hopes to keep expanding air service which will really benefit the Huskers with recruiting both students and athletes to come to Nebraska.
