TeamMates Mentoring (LincolnTeamMates.org) of Lincoln will celebrate the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year with their annual Fall Kickoff event, held on August 9 this year. Taking place at Southeast High School, the evening will involve a youth panel of current students involved in TeamMates and allow for networking amongst volunteer mentors. Mentors are encouraged to invite along a guest who they feel would make a great TeamMate to a young person in Lincoln.

TeamMates mentors who met the research-backed goal number of visits with their mentee will be inducted into the “24 or More Club.”

“Youth mentoring research tells us that if a mentor can meet with their mentee at least 24 times of the 35-week school year, that will have the best outcome for kids,” said Jim Bennett, coordinator of Lincoln TeamMates. “Consistency and time are critical for earning a young person’s trust and building that relationship with them.”

TeamMates Mentoring makes a meaningful impact in the local community and beyond by inspiring youth to reach their full potential through mentoring. They are hoping to recruit 300 additional volunteer mentors this school year for Lincoln youth.
