“Lovers of music, together with the men, women and children talented in the art of music, making their home in Lincoln, Nebraska, have long cherished the hope that the day might come when Lincoln would be privileged to pride itself as the home of a Symphony Orchestra, that premier unit in the rendition of music unexcelled.”
These words prefaced the program for the first concert of the Lincoln Little Symphony Orchestra at Saint Paul United Methodist Church on Tuesday, March 1, 1927. Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra (lincolnsymphony.com) is overjoyed to celebrate its 2026-2027 season, marking 100 years of symphonic music in Lincoln.
Under the direction of Music Director Edward Polochick, the season will consist of 11 concerts showcasing the entire span of the symphonic music genre.
LSO will be joined by more than a dozen soloists of international and local renown, as well as collaborating with local choirs, dance groups and The Pride of All Nebraska: The Cornhusker Marching Band.
Featured performances include LSO’s first ever live movie play-along (Jurassic Park, February 20) and Beethoven’s magnifi cent Symphony No. (Beethoven’s Ninth, April 5).
