A Warmer Day Plans Coat Distribution, Seeks Community Help to Hold Drives

A Warmer Day (awarmerday.org) is planning a fifth coat distribution for Lincoln area families this winter, at a time when the need is greater than ever. This has been a difficult winter for A Warmer Day, as they were forced to cancel several coat drives due to COVID in 2020. Still, they managed to complete four distributions this winter season, thanks to having many coats in storage from previous donations. To ensure they can make a fifth distribution, A Warmer Day is encouraging area residents and businesses to hold coat drives to collect warm outerwear for community members in need.

The all-volunteer nonprofit organization has used zero tax dollars and zero payroll dollars to distribute thousands of pieces of winter apparel to more than 1,000 families during the current winter season, but they depend on the kindness of businesses, individuals, neighborhoods, and volunteers to provide a warmer winter to those who are less fortunate but need to keep their families safe and warm.

A Warmer Day is an all-volunteer charity whose mission is to provide coats and winter apparel to Nebraskans in need. You can support their mission by holding a coat drive or donating new or gently used coats, hat, gloves, scarves, mittens, and boots. You can also make a financial impact by becoming a member for just $10 per month. If you are interested in membership, please sign up on their website at awarmerday.org.
