AFP Nebraska Reacts to Governor Ricketts’ State of the State Address

On January 14th, Governor Ricketts delivered his State of the State address in which there was vision for lower property taxes, more spending on roads and bridges, but restricting government spending. Americans for Prosperity Nebraska (americansforprosperity.org) is a key opponent to Medicaid expansion in the state, and Governor Ricketts agrees.

In reaction to the Governor’s speech, AFP Nebraska State Director Matt Litt released the following statement:

“The address from the capitol was quite inspiring and we saw some great highlights that could bring prosperity back to Nebraska. The Governor has proven to be an ally in the fight against Medicaid expansion and we are glad to see he is continuing this fight. We will continue to educate on the false hope expansion promises and the detrimental reality it creates. We must look to advance healthcare reforms that create more choice and lower costs to every Nebraskan. Additionally, it was great to hear Gov. Ricketts speak at length about the importance of property tax relief. We will be urging legislators to provide our fellow citizens with this relief.”

“Although we heard some great points in Gov. Ricketts’ speech, we will be sure to hold him accountable for his promises and advocate for policies that support economic prosperity.”

Americans for Prosperity Nebraska (americansforprosperity.org) is the state’s foremost group of grassroots activists advocating for policies supporting a free society, helping every Nebraskan live their dream.
