American Heart Association Wants You to Go Red For Women in November

Lights. Camera. Go Red.

Join the American Heart Association for a celebration of women’s heart and brain health at 2016 Go Red For Women on Nov. 10 at The Lincoln Marriott Cornhusker Hotel. Tables and individual tickets are available now at www.lincolngrfw.org.

The event, which has a movie theme this year, begins at 5 p.m. After information booths and an electronic silent auction, the night continues with a plated dinner, an inspiring survivor story featuring Rachel McCaslin and recognition of the BetterU Makeover Challenge participants.

The event will be hosted by Matt McKay and Lindsey of KFRX 106.3, one of the media sponsors of the event. 10/11 News is also a media sponsor. Proceeds benefit the lifesaving mission of the American Heart Association. Last year, the Association invested nearly $2.4 million in 14 new and continuing studies in Nebraska alone.

The Go Red For Women is a part of the American Heart Association’s national movement to end heart disease and stroke in women. Approximately 90% of women have one or more risk factors for developing heart disease but many are unaware. Risk factors include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, physical inactivity, obesity and tobacco use. The event aims to raise awareness and change the startling statistics. Heart disease kills more women than all types of cancer combined.
