Life seems to stop when a child is diagnosed with pediatric cancer, but expenses don’t. Angels Among Us is committed to easing the financial and emotional burdens on pediatric cancer families to keep them in their homes and focused on what matters most: their sick child.

In 2025, AAU served 122 pediatric cancer families with over $890,000 in financial assistance in the form of critical bill payments. Of those families, 15 were from Lincoln and Lancaster County. Monthly bill payments are made directly to creditors for the duration of the child’s critical treatment plan. AAU pays rent, mortgage, utilizes and car payments to alleviate the financial stress brought on by a pediatric cancer diagnosis.

Expansion of emotional support programming into Lincoln has also been a top priority in 2026 for AAU. By hosting family-focused and women’s recharge events in Lincoln, AAU is providing opportunities for pediatric cancer families to connect in their own community.

“AAU helped pay our bills so that we could focus on our child’s needs rather than how we would manage to financially navigate such a difficult situation,” says one of AAU’s Lincoln families. “Cancer can feel so isolating and overwhelming, but because of AAU, our family knew we always had someone there to support us.”

Angels Among Us is celebrating 20 years of serving Nebraska’s pediatric cancer families, supporting over 800 families with over $6 million in support since 2006.
