September is pediatric cancer awareness month and Angels Among Us (AAU) (myangelsamongus.org), a local organization providing financial and emotional support to pediatric cancer families in Nebraska, has partnered with 50 volleyball teams to raise awareness and support AAU. High schools and colleges across the state have marked a September game as their ‘Go Gold’ game in support of this initiative and to celebrate Angels Among Us’ 20-years of impact in Nebraska.
The following Lincoln area volleyball games have been scheduled:
Lincoln Northwest High School- September 1
University of Nebraska Lincoln- September 11
Lincoln Lutheran High School- September 17
Ashland Greenwood High School- September 17
Lincoln Southwest High School- September 29
Standing Bear High School- September 29
This is possible due to a partnership between Angels Among Us, Hurrdat and Hurrdat Brand Goods. A unifi ed warm-up will be worn by all teams in September, and fans can purchase gold t-shirts to support their teams and help raise funds for AAU. Other proud partners such as Renaissance Financial and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska have helped to make this a huge success.
Angels Among Us’ mission is to provide financial and emotional support to any family whose child is battling pediatric cancer living in or being treated in the state of Nebraska. Since 2006, over 850 families have been supported with over $6.5 million in financial support and nearly 40 counties across the state are supported each year.
