Belmont Community Center Campaigns to Build New Playground
Kicking off with Give to Lincoln Day, the Belmont Community Center (BCC, belmontcommunitycenter.org) has started a new fundraising campaign to #FillTheFence. The goal is to build a playground designed for and accessible to preschool-age students in their community. Although the BCC is located near a local public park, best practice for a licensed childcare center is to keep preschool-age students fenced in while playing outdoors. BCC kids ages 3-5 take limited field trips up to the neighborhood park, but need a safer and more consistent way to build gross-motor skills throughout the year. Right now, the fenced-in area on BCC property is an open grass play space with a community garden and they need your help to #FillTheFence with a play structure designed for early childhood skill-building. This playground would be used not only by BCC students, but would also be open to the community, providing a safer and more tailored option for families with young children.
