Branched Oak Observatory Begins Installation Process of New Solar Panels

In order to become more sustainable as they continue to grow and expand, Branched Oak Observatory (www.branchedoakobservatory.com) recently began the installation process of 14 solar panels. The panels will provide power to the Boller Sivill Observatory, the Everts S. Sibbernsen Memorial Observatory, and the Buhrman Radio Studies Center. The project has been funded thus far by the 100’s of Men Who Care-Lincoln organization.

There are four main parts to every solar power system—solar panels, solar controller, deep cycle battery bank, and large power inverter. If you, your family, or business would like to help fund in whole or in part one or all of the last three major components to Branched Oak Observatory’s system, please email Michael Sibbernsen at info@branchedoakobservatory.com to discuss.

The Branched Oak Observatory is a registered 501 (c)(3) nonprofit located near (but not inside) the Branched Oak Recreation Area, 23 miles northwest of Lincoln. It is supported by science education professionals and astronomy enthusiasts who give their valuable time and expertise to the growing facility. Their goal is simple: to share the wonders of the night sky with eastern Nebraska. To learn more, visit www.branchedoakobservatory.com.
