The Branched Oak Observatory is gearing up for one of its most anticipated events of the year—Cars n Stars and Tacos Too—happening May 16. This unique, family-friendly celebration blends horsepower with the wonders of the night sky, offering something for everyone from car enthusiasts to curious young scientists.
The day kicks off with a lively car show at the Sam’s Club North parking lot from 1–4 p.m., with early check-in beginning at 10 a.m. Attendees can enjoy an impressive lineup of vehicles while soaking in the energy of a live DJ and grabbing a bite from a taco truck. Cash prizes add an extra layer of excitement for participants, while spectators are sure to find plenty to admire.
As the sun sets, the action shifts to the observatory for the “Stars” portion of the event, running from 8 p.m. until midnight. Guests will experience breathtaking views of the night sky through powerful telescopes, along with interactive and educational activities. Kids can dive into hands-on, make-and-take STEM projects designed to spark curiosity and creativity.
Admission is affordable at just $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 5–15. Car registration is available at theboo.org, with a $20 fee that directly supports the mission of the Branched Oak Observatory.
Whether you come for the cars, the stars, or the tacos, this event promises an unforgettable experience under the Nebraska sky.
