Bright Lights (BrightLights.org) summer learning adventures is celebrating another successful summer, while looking forward to making an even bigger impact on Lincoln-area children in 2016. More than 2,000 children participated this summer in a wide range of topics from the arts to sciences in 126 classes. Several sections of Lego Robotics classes filled up, limited by the number of robotics kits available. Bright Lights Executive Director Linda Birkes-Lance says they hope to purchase additional kits so they can expand the robotics program.
As an independent nonprofit organization, Bright Lights relies on generous donations from corporate sponsors, charitable foundations, parents and individuals in the community to fund the summer learning program. Tuition only covers a portion of the cost. The organization is currently in the midst of its annual giving campaign.
“We’re grateful for the incredible support of the Lincoln-area community in the 30 years since Bright Lights was founded,” said Birkes-Lance. “Because of that we’ve been able to serve thousands of children. Our goal is to increase financial support so Bright Lights can continue to help more children learn and grow.”
