Cars n Stars and Tacos Too will be held on May 17th hosted by Speedway Motors for the Branched Oak Observatory (theboo.org). Come and see hundreds of vehicles from across the region. There will be a live DJ, raffle prizes, Food Trucks and more! We will have live SOLAR viewing this all happens from 1-4 p.m. Car registrants can arrive beginning at 10 a.m. There will be cash prizes for 1st thru 3rd place and the grand prize People Choice Award!
Then later that evening come to the Branched Oak Observatory where the astronomical fun will begin! Doors open at 7:00pm where we will have our Solar Telescopes up and running and then as the night falls you will look through a number of world-class telescopes and view the galaxy. Tour the galaxy with the Branched Oak tour guides as they take you on an astronomical adventure!
Plus, one of their very own Professional Astronomers, Michael Sibbernsen, will have an amazing night sky program in the Kunkel Family Multipurpose Center. Then enter the Everetts S. Sibbernsen Memorial Observatory where they will have their largest optical instrument – a 16-inch Schmidt Cassegrain, focused upon celestial objects.
100% of the admission fees at the Observatory go to support Branched Oak Observatory by preserving and today and planning for the future.
