CBMC’s 19th Annual Golf Classic Focuses on Connections, Fellowship, Impact

CBMC (Lincoln.cbmc.com) Lincoln hosted its 19th Annual Golf Classic and luncheon September 15 at Wilderness Ridge. More than 110 golfers and an additional 24 individuals attended the luncheon, and participants experienced a fun afternoon of golf and great fellowship. The event concluded with team awards, raffle prizes and a silent auction. Guest speaker for the luncheon was Gus Gustafson. At age nine, Gus battled for his life following a horrific tractor accident that took his right arm and shoulder and crushed his right leg. Despite his injury, he was determined to excel in athletics. He played varsity basketball, achieving Honorable Mention All-State, and went on to play collegiate ball. A string of devastating events in college led to a faith in God that transformed his life. His captivating story encouraged, entertained and challenged attendees to handle adversity with courage and joy. Gus shared about his life-changing accident, the impact his Christian faith has had on his life and how each person can “turn your setbacks into comebacks.” During his 25-year speaking career, Gus has spoken to over 1.6 million people.
