CEDARS Continues Important Work to End Child Abuse
Visitors to the Railyard in downtown Lincoln during the month of April might have seen thousands of blue ribbons adorning the handrails. CEDARS (www.cedarskids.org) created this visually impactful display as part of Child Abuse Prevention Month. Last year, there were roughly 3,500 substantiated victims of child abuse and neglect in Nebraska. As one of the largest child-caring organizations in the state, CEDARS believes that even one victim of child abuse is too many. As parents and as a community, we can all work to prevent child abuse.
Just as it was 70 years ago when CEDARS was founded, the support of the community to provide for the children and youth in crisis is critical. This year CEDARS will deliver services to nearly 2,500 children and their families. Providing refuge for children and youth who have no other safe place to spend the night is the core of CEDARS mission, pursued through comprehensive efforts to help kids in crisis and build strong families.
