Center for People in Need Seeks Support to Maintain Services During COVID-19 Crisis

The Center for People in Need (www.cfpin.org) is calling for members of the community to offer much needed support during the COVID-19 crisis. Each week in 2019, an average of 1,000 families visited the Center for People in Need for food and diapers. Food insecurity does not go away during a pandemic, and many members of the community depend on the Center for People in Need to have adequate food at home. The economic effects of the pandemic mean more people than ever need the Center for People in Need’s services, and they are dedicated to meeting that need.

The Center for People in Need has extended their food and diaper distribution hours throughout the week to reduce the number of people on-site at one time. They have also moved to a paperless drive-thru model where food is pre-bagged to reduce contact between clients and center employees.

The Center for People in Need is a community-based nonprofit that offers services and training to low-income people to satisfy their basic needs and help them achieve economic independence. Because serving the community through the COVID-19 crisis has stretched their already thin resources, they urge community members to consider making a donation to support the low-income members of the community who could not afford to stockpile food, personal care supplies, diapers, and toilet paper before the crisis struck. Online donations can be made at cfpin.org, or checks can be mailed to 3901 N 27th St., Lincoln, NE 68521.

The Center for People in Need appreciates any and all support during this national emergency. Call (402) 476-4357 with questions or visit the website at www.cfpin.org.
