Child Guidance Center’s Extended Day Treatment Program Expands, Transitions to Summer Hours
The Child Guidance Center (www.child-guidance.org) is dedicated to meeting the mental health needs of children and their families in the Lincoln area and surrounding communities through effective and flexible therapeutic partnerships and a commitment to advocacy and positive social change.
The Extended Day Treatment Program provides intensive therapeutic after-school and summer program for children 5 – 11 years old with serious emotional and behavioral difficulties. The program operates Monday – Friday after school and during the mornings in the summer.
During the last program year, Child Guidance Center saw a 15% increase in the number of children who were served through the Extended Day Treatment Program bringing last year’s total to 53 children and families.
“Due to the increased need for this program, we have expanded the number of children and youth who can be served on a daily basis,” shared Katie McLeese Stephenson, Executive Director. “The impact of this program is seen one child and family at a time where a child learns to make behavioral changes so that they can stabilize their living arrangement and school placement.”
