On October 3, Community Action (communityactionatwork.org) held a ribbon cutting and building dedication at the Bansal Family Home for Head Start located at 1821 K Street in Lincoln, following completion of its $3.55 million capital campaign to renovate the space. Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird and Senator Deb Fischer both shared remarks at the event, speaking to the importance of early childhood education and the unique role Head Start plays in the community.
Renovations throughout the past two years have transformed the center from a facility designed for adult education into one suited for young children and their families.
“Lincoln needs access to quality, affordable early childhood education services like those provided through Head Start,” said Heather Loughman, Community Action CEO. “We are incredibly grateful for the community investments made into this space and are honored to name our building in honor of the Bansal family. The generosity of our many donors allowed us to create a space in which every child and family will have access to the opportunities they need to live well, now and for generations to come.”
