Community Crops Supports Educare Lincoln with Garden Donations

Thanks to a generous donation from Community Crops, Educare Lincoln (home.lps.org/educarelincoln) is happy to report their vegetable garden is growing and flourishing. The well-tended garden near their facility now boasts tomato plants, eggplant plants, kale, and a variety of herbs. The partnership between Educare Lincoln and Community Crops was started in 2017, when Educare Lincoln was one of Community Crops’ first Early Childhood Learning Centers in their original School Garden program. Community Crops worked with Educare staff, parents, and children to create a garden space at the entrance of the school. Throughout the years, Community Crops has continued to donate seeds and plants for the garden so that their young students can weed, water, plant, and harvest themselves.

The philosophy of Educare Lincoln is to help children develop a positive self-concept, elevate their creativity, and enrich each students’ life socially, intellectually, and emotionally. The early childhood educations they provide allow children to discover and explore the environment which enables them to convert their natural curiosity into the learning process. Hands-on learning is highly valued by the Educare team. The garden is a prime location to teach young people about food systems and nature, observation, being quiet, and connecting with the earth.
