On April 10th, Cornhusker Bank and People’s City Mission partnered to help raise awareness of the impact a need for a pair of shoes can have on a person’s life by hosting the One Day without Shoes event. Throughout that week the public was encouraged to bring in new shoes, their worn shoes that they no longer needed or cash donations to help put shoes on the less fortunate feet of Lincoln. By the end of the week, the six Lincoln Cornhusker Banks and over sixty other community partners had collected nearly 4,700 pairs of shoes and a raised donations totaling $9,000!
On, April 20th at 10am, the People’s City Mission and Cornhusker Bank held a press conference at the People’s City Mission to thank the public for the success of the event, present the Mission with a $9,000 check and then begin to distribute shoes to the residents of the homeless shelter.
