DSAF Presents 2020 Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk October 10

Down Syndrome Association for Families (DSAF) of Nebraska (www.ds-stride.org/dsafstepup) is excited to present their annual Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk 2020 on October 10 at 9 a.m., Lancaster Event Center, 4100 N 84th St. Participants can expect in-person and virtual engagement opportunities like music performances, free food, balloons, raffle, silent auction, fact posters, and more. Whether you have Down syndrome, know someone who does, or just want to show your support, take the first step and donate, sign up to walk, or spread the word! As of this writing, DSAF plans to move forward with an in-person event, unless health guidelines change.

DSAF understands that some people may feel uncomfortable attending the walk in-person, so they have created additional virtual opportunities, including weekly Team Captive incentives leading up to the walk, and an online silent auction. Of course, a social-distancing flare will be added to the walk this year, featuring masks, lots of hand sanitizer, and plenty of distance between people. Funds raised from the Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk 2020 will go toward enrichment outings, family networking, parent support and resources, new baby welcome baskets, educational training for medical professionals, monthly educational series, and much more to enrich the lives of those with Down syndrome and their families. As of September 16, more than 53 teams were signed up, with 835 people registered and nearly $70,000 raised.
