Eventide hosted a free three-day Intergenerational Summer Camp June 15-17, bringing together children in kindergarten through fifth grade with senior residents for activities designed to foster meaningful connections across generations.
The camp provided opportunities for children to learn about aging, build confidence interacting with older adults and develop relationships with Eventide residents through shared experiences. Throughout the week, participants took part in crafts, games, music, outdoor activities and special events that encouraged learning, friendship and fun.
“Intergenerational programs create meaningful experiences for both children and older adults,” said Laura Bennett, Director of Life Enrichment. “Children gain confidence and understanding, while residents enjoy the energy, companionship and joy that comes from spending time with younger generations.”
Camp activities included icebreakers, crafts, bingo, ice cream socials, karaoke, outdoor games and a special visit from ponies. The camp concluded with children creating and delivering thank-you cards to residents, celebrating the friendships formed during the week.
The camp supported Eventide’s mission of empowering older adults to thrive while creating opportunities for people of all ages to connect and learn from one another.
