Family Service Lincoln Celebrates 130 Years of Commitment to Families in the Community

This year, Family Service Lincoln (familyservicelincoln.org) is proud to be celebrating 130 years of commitment to the city of Lincoln and its surrounding areas. As they cherish the organization’s rich history, they continue to look forward to the future and the ways in which they can better help families thrive.

On March 18, 1891, members of the Lincoln community gathered to create a plan for the future of the city’s various charities. It was at this meeting that “Lincoln Charity Organization Society” was founded. A constitution was established to “secure the greatest possible efficiency on the part of the charitable agencies of the city” and to “obtain prompt and suitable relief for all deserving applicants.” This first charitable organization of Lincoln would later become “Social Welfare Society” in 1917 before finally settling on the name “Family Service Association of Lincoln” in 1945. After that, the rest is history.

Over the years, Family Service Lincoln has evolved in many ways to meet the needs of those who need it most in the community. For more information regarding services, visit familyservicelincoln.org or reach the team at (402) 441-7949 / contact@familyservicelincoln.org.
