Family Service Lincoln WIC Extends Remote Work Through September 30
Family Service Lincoln WIC (familyservicelincoln.org/wic-women-infants-children) has announced that their funding entity, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, on June 29, extended waivers allowing all WIC program employees nationwide to continue working remotely until at least September 30 if they choose. Each month since April, USDA has made a decision to allow staff to work from home with only a few days notice before the end of the month. With this lengthier advanced notice, WIC is better able to communicate with their clients and spend time providing outreach to their community and partners to increase program participation. Income guidelines to be eligible for WIC were also changed July 1.
Family Service Lincoln WIC provides healthy foods at no cost to eligible participants to help keep pregnant women, infants, children up to age five, breastfeeding moms up to one year, and postpartum moms up to six months, healthy. They also offer support to anyone who cares for a child, including dads, grandparents, foster or stepparents, and guardians. To be eligible for WIC, a person must meet one of the above requirements and have identification and proof of address and income.
