Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month is an annual campaign done by Voices of Hope (voicesofhopelincoln.org) dedicated to raising awareness about the issue of dating violence among teenagers.
The campaign aims to teach teens about the signs they need to look out for in abusive relationships as well as promoting signs of a healthy relationship and provide resources for those who may be experiencing or witnessing teen dating violence. The campaign also strives to start conversations around this very relevant issue, hoping to encourage teens to speak up and seek help if they or someone they know is facing dating abuse.
Learning about healthy relationships and especially boundaries is just as important to combat dating violence. Know what a good relationship looks like in order to make sure yours isn’t a bad one. What happens in a teen relationship can have lifelong consequences. One in three homicides in girls 11-18 are committed by an intimate partner. And 68% of students experiencing dating violence have reported a negative impact on their academic success. Keep up with Voices of Hope’s socials (@voicesofhopelincoln) in order to learn the signs and keep you and your loved ones safe from unhealthy and potentially abusive relationships.
Voices of Hope’s mission is two-fold: to provide services to victims and their significant others who are faced with the traumatic aftermath of sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking, human trafficking, incest and childhood abuse and to provide information about these crimes for the purposes of citizen awareness, prevention and to enhance the sensitivity and professional understanding of those who may work with individuals with these problems.
