For 20 years, Foster Care Closet of Nebraska (FosterCareCloset.org) has helped restore dignity to youth in crisis by providing new clothing, essential items and the opportunity to choose what feels like their own.
The organization will celebrate this milestone at its Tailored for Tomorrow Gala on Monday, Oct. 19, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln. The event will honor the community that has supported this mission while raising funds for the organization’s next chapter of service across Nebraska.
When a young person enters foster care, nearly everything can change in a moment. Many arrive with little more than the clothing they are wearing. Foster Care Closet provides new clothing, shoes, PJs, undergarments, hygiene products and other essentials through a shopping experience centered on dignity and choice.
Youth select items that fit their needs, preferences and personal style. At a time when so many decisions are being made for them, the opportunity to choose gives them a voice and helps restore dignity and joy during a moment of crisis.
Nebraska businesses are invited to sponsor the gala, and individuals, teams and community supporters are encouraged to attend.
