Foster Care Closet Receives Over $1K from LIBA’s GenLNK Bags4Benefits Fundraiser

The Lincoln Independent Business Association’s (LIBA) young professionals group—GenLNK—held their first-ever Bags4Benefits cornhole tournament fundraiser on September 25 to benefit Foster Care Closet (www.fostercarecloset.org). Over $1,000 was raised and donation items were collected at the event. The event was sponsored by Lincoln American Electronics. Congratulations goes out to the winning team, David Mendoza and Johnny Rodriguez. In the spirit of charity, they donated their $100 cash prize back to the nonprofit. These proceeds will help to not only clothe a child, but reaffirm their worth and value as they enter foster care. When children are removed from their home and enter the foster care system, they often only have the clothes they are wearing. At the Foster Care Closet, children can choose five NEW outfits as well as shoes and socks, underwear, and hygiene items.

Foster Care Closet continues to need support from the community. An opportunity to give to their cause is #GivingTuesday on November 30. By ministering to the physical needs of kiddos in crisis, you actually speak to their souls and remind them that they are valuable, they are worthy, and they deserve to be treated with humanity and respect. If you partner with Foster Care Closet on #GivingTuesday, which is a global generosity movement, you will help affirm the dignity of a child in the midst of trauma and upheaval.

The mission of The Foster Care Closet of Nebraska is to help restore dignity to children entering foster care. They allow them to enter their new foster home fed, clean, and clothed.
