Fresh Start (freshstarthome.org), a transitional shelter for women experiencing homelessness and Nebraska’s only NARR-certified program, will host its annual fundraising event, Project Funway: The 16th and Final Walk, on Friday, October 30 at The Lincoln Cornhusker Marriott. This year’s theme is Design | Transform | Overcome.

This is Fresh Start’s biggest event of the year — and its last. The event is ending due to the phase-out of its longtime partner, UNL’s Textiles, Merchandising, and Fashion Design program, which the NU Board of Regents voted to eliminate 18 months ago.

Project Funway offers something for everyone:

  • Be a Community Clothing Designer – Thrift or upcycle finds and redesign them to fit the theme of personal transformation, then showcase them on the runway.
  • Sponsor the Event – A few sponsorship levels remain, with options to fit any budget in support of this 501(c)(3) nonprofi t.
  • Donate to the Silent Auction – Items, tickets, baskets, goods, services, or unique experiences are all welcome.
  • Get Tickets – Tickets available now! Visit the event website or contact Angie Taylor, Development & Volunteer Coordinator, at angiet@freshstarthome.org to learn how to join the celebration.
  • From your mobile device, visit our event home page for all these details and more: freshstarthome.org/events/project-funway.

Project Funway is a runway fashion show that helps fund programs that empower women transitioning from homelessness to rebuild their lives by recognizing their strengths and overcoming barriers to self-sufficiency.
