Friendship Home’s (FriendshipHome.org) Safe Quarters fundraising event will be held on October 9 to support Domestic Violence Awareness Month. During Safe Quarters, over one hundred teams of dedicated volunteers go door-to-door collecting financial contributions for Friendship Home and spreading awareness to households in the Lincoln community.
Recognizing domestic violence is critical if we are to take action to address and prevent it. In October 1987, the first Domestic Violence Awareness Month was observed. Since then, October has served as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. In Lancaster County, one in four women will experience domestic violence at some point in their life. Through crisis services, emergency shelter, and transitional housing, Friendship Home helps victims, and their children, gain insight into their trauma and guides them to use their strengths to rebuild their lives—free from domestic violence.
Friendship Home continues to provide crisis services, emergency shelter, and transitional housing to victims of domestic violence and their children. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, call the Friendship Home crisis line at (402) 437-9302. Taking a stand can start anywhere – listening, donating, volunteering, or joining Friendship Home’s monthly giving program. Learn more about how you can take a stand on their website, FriendshipHome.org.
