Goodwill Industries Serving Southeast Nebraska, Inc. (lincolngoodwill.org) announced plans to open Cat Connection in its downtown Lincoln location. Cat Connection will provide a cozy spot for visitors to work, study or relax, enjoy tasty treats, and spend time with adoptable cats from the Capital Humane Society.
“We’re excited to bring our cats to downtown Lincoln and introduce them to a new group of prospective owners,” said Matt Madcharo, executive director at CHS. “Even visitors who cannot adopt will still help socialize and entertain the cats during their stay.”
Cat Connection will share space with Goodwill’s Job Connection Center, a computer lab that provides personalized assistance to local job seekers. For over five years, Goodwill staff members have worked diligently to ensure the space can also provide a safe and comfortable environment for feline tenants.
“We’ve been dreaming about Cat Connection since before the pandemic,” said Alana Sesow, communications director at Goodwill. “Thanks to our hardworking staff and our partnership with CHS, we can now make this dream a reality.”
Both “Connections” will help Goodwill achieve its mission of “willing workers employed and community resources maximized.” While Job Connection continues to help job seekers overcome traditional employment barriers, Cat Connection will provide a remote-work environment where professionals can enjoy the mental health benefits of feline coworkers.
