Goodwill to Host Electronic Drive in Conjunction with National Technology Day
Every year, National Technology Day recognizes past technological achievements and looks forward to the future of technology. Celebrate by donating electronics of any brand and any condition to Goodwill’s (www.lincolngoodwill.org) Electronics Drive on January 9 from 10a.m. to 2 p.m. at 4555 Vine St. in Lincoln. Through partnering with Dell and participating in the Dell Reconnect Program, Goodwill gives used electronics the power to create jobs.
Revenue from donations helps to support Goodwill’s important mission of putting people to work. Donated items will be either resold, refurbished, or recycled. If the item should be recycled, it will go through Dell’s recycling process. Systems will be broken down into individual parts and disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner. Even the smallest donations have the ability to make a large impact. In 2019, Goodwill Industries Serving Southeast Nebraska diverted 260,210 pounds of electronics from the local landfill.
Donated equipment has value—sometimes as a whole system, sometimes as parts and sometimes as raw materials such as metals, plastics, and glass. Donors receive a receipt for tax purposes, help protect the environment, and benefit the community all at the same time.
Support the Goodwill and their belief that technology wasn’t made for landfills; it was made to change people’s lives. To learn more on how to donate, visit www.lincolngoodwill.org.
