Goodwill Industries Serving Southeast Nebraska, Inc. (lincolngoodwill.org) announced plans to renovate its downtown Lincoln location. This project involves expanding Job Connection, which currently occupies part of the location, and adding new partnerships and services to the remaining space.
Job Connection, which is fully funded by Goodwill’s thrift store revenue, helps individuals overcome traditional employment barriers and find work in the community. Goodwill’s Employment Specialists provide free, personalized assistance with services like resume creation, online applications and computer skills development.
Use of Goodwill’s employment services has rapidly grown; the agency nearly quadrupled its Job Connection client base from 2023 to 2024. The downtown renovations will allow Goodwill to continue providing high-quality, personalized assistance to the increasing number of clients seeking its services.
“Our clients appreciate the personalized assistance they receive at Job Connection, and there are many days when every computer station is full,” said Aubry Hoegemeyer, Employment Services Director at Goodwill. “We are excited to be able to offer more opportunities and resources for Lincoln’s job seekers, and we will work to make sure the upcoming renovations happen with the least possible disruption to our clients.”
After expanding Job Connection, Goodwill will fill the location’s remaining space with other “connections,” to be announced at a later date.
