HBAL Celebrates 30th Santa Cop Project
During the 2019 holiday season, the Home Builders Association of Lincoln (HBAL; hbal.org) organized their 30th annual Santa Project, completing 70 builder block sets on November 9. HBAL donated the builder blocks to the Lincoln Police Department along with $1,000 to purchase additional toys. All of the items were distributed to children the officers have encountered while on the job who needed a little extra cheer during the holiday season. The project began in 1988 with 60 rocking horses which HBAL built and donated to the Lincoln Police Department to distribute to local children. In 30 years, HBAL members have made over 2,100 wonderful toys for the Santa Cop program.
In addition to the Santa Cop Project, HBAL donated $5,000 to the Lincoln Police Union Memorial Fund as part of the Lincoln Home Builders Care Foundation’s Giving Day. This money will be used to construct a memorial located outside the Lancaster County Courthouse to honor fallen law enforcement officers.
