HopeSpoke Offers Parenting Tips, Psychoeducational Videos

Parenting is rewarding, but it’s also hard work! Especially at the beginning of the school year, after all the changes brought by the pandemic, it can be stressful to re-establish routines, set healthy goals and adapt to constant change. HopeSpoke (www.hopespoke.org) is here to help.

If you’re looking for tips on effective parenting, check out HopeSpoke’s latest psychoeducational video, which can be found on their YouTube channel (@HopeSpoke). Cambria Beirow, MA, PLMHP (they/them) is an Outpatient Therapist with HopeSpoke and has created this video series to provide simple tips for dealing with a variety of individual and family issues.

Four essential tips that apply to any parenting situation have been adapted from Dr. Michael Hopkin’s book Active Parenting: A Parent’s Guide to Raising Happy and Successful Children, the basis for this evidence-based parenting curriculum:

  • Consistency is key
  • Develop mutual respect between parent and child
  • Discover family enrichment activities you and your child can enjoy
  • Don’t forget to take care of the caregiver
