JDRF to Host 2019 Lincoln One Walk Event
JDRF (jdrf.org/lincoln) will host their annual Lincoln One Walk fundraiser in Haymarket Park on Sunday, September 22 from noon to 3 p.m. This will be a fun, family-friendly event where dedicated walkers, volunteers, and sponsors raise money to make living with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) safer and healthier. As the largest T1D event in the world, it’s an amazing experience to be part of. In 2018, more than $290,000 was raised and over 4,000 participants attended. The Lincoln One Walk also includes food, games, face painting, and entertainment!
The purpose of One Walk, hosted by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), is to raise money to create a world without T1D. Over time, T1D can affect major organs such as the heart, blood vessels, nerves, eyes, and kidneys. Complications can lead to permanent damage in the kidney(s), eye(s), legs, and other places or even be life-threatening. The exact cause of T1D is unknown, there is no known way to prevent it, and there is no cure.
JDRF works to change type one to type none. If you want to register for the 2019 JDRF Lincoln One Walk to help raise money for this cause, go online to jdrf.org/lincoln. You can also contact Laura at (402) 484-8300 / leberly@jdrf.org.
