Kiwanis Aktion Club, The Arc of Lincoln Pass 1 Million Mark in Collection of Pop Tabs
The Lincoln Kiwanis Aktion Club and The Arc of Lincoln (advocacypartnership.org) have collected a total of more than 1 million pop tabs to serve the mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities, earning them membership in the 1 Million Club, upon which they immediately set their sights on the 2 Million Club. To put into perspective what 1 million pop tabs looks like, put end-to-end, they would stretch 15.78 miles! Each pound of pop tabs—about 1,130 tabs—brings between 40 cents and 50 cents, netting a total of about $6,000 per year. All told, Ronald McDonald House Charities received about 35 million pop tabs in 2020, which helped to pay the electric bill each month. The organization provides the catalyst for creating a world where children have access to quality healthcare, and their families are able to better comfort and support them while actively participating in their care.
The Arc of Lincoln advises the Lincoln Aktion Club, whose mission is to provide adults with disabilities an opportunity to develop initiative and leadership, to be integrated into society, to serve their community, and to demonstrate the dignity and value of citizens with disabilities.
