Lancaster County 4-H Announces Multiple Ways to Get Involved this Fall

If you’re looking for a way to help further empower your children with skills that will serve them a lifetime, fall is the perfect time to joint Lancaster County 4-H (Lancaster.unl.edu/4h)—and you can even get the entire family involved! 4-H is America’s largest youth-development organization, empowering nearly 6 million young people with life skills. Research shows that the structured learning, encouragement, and adult mentoring that youth receive through 4-H helps them achieve future life successes.

4-H clubs reorganize in the fall, and there are four ways you can get involved in Lancaster County 4-H:
Help forms a new 4-H club:

  • Join an existing club
  • Become an independent member
  • Participate in 4-H activities, such as camps.

In Nebraska, 4-H is part of Nebraska Extension and is open to all youth ages 5 to 18. There are no fees to join in Lancaster County, and 4-H members can chose from more than 150 different hands-on projects to learn—among them rocketry, food and nutrition, horticulture, photography, clothing, entrepreneurship, livestock, dog, rabbit, and poultry. Families are encouraged to help organize a new club, which is a lot easier than you might think! 4-H volunteers must be at least 19 years old, and local 4-H staff provides guidance and resources to club leaders.
