LCF Honors Entire Lincoln Community with 2021 Charity Award at Recognition Event

At its annual Donor Recognition Event on May 6, the Lincoln Community Foundation (LCF, lcf.org) did things a little differently this year and awarded the prestigious 2021 Charity Award to the entire Lincoln community rather than an individual or single organization! The 2021 award honors donors, nonprofits, funders, and partners for coming together as one community during the most challenging of times. In 2020, a record-setting $21.1 million was granted to 1,184 nonprofit organizations and $2.2 million was distributed for programs including CARES Act funding for those who needed support more than ever. The community raised a record $7 million for 448 nonprofits on Give to Lincoln Day and an additional $1.2 million for the COVID-19 Response Fund, which was distributed to 66 local nonprofits on the frontlines of the pandemic.

“The year 2020 is one we will never forget, especially because of the generosity of our community,” said LCF President Barbara Bartle. “You can see that in the record-breaking numbers of gifts, but you can especially feel it in the spirit of our city. There are so many stories of neighbors coming together during uncertain times to take care of each other. You volunteered, made masks, started community conversations, bought local, and donated to provide basic needs with our goods and our philanthropic dollars. For this, we are honored to present the 2021 Charity Award to the entire Lincoln community.”

Established in 1955, the Lincoln Community Foundation strives to continually enrich the Lincoln community by promoting and achieving perpetual philanthropic support. For more information or to donate to the Foundation, visit lcf.org or call (402) 474-2345.
